Microsoft Entra ID + eCardWidget
SSO and SCIM push provisioning from Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD). Your Microsoft directory becomes your recognition directory — birthdays, anniversaries, and offboarding included.
SSO and SCIM directory sync with Microsoft Entra ID
One-click sign-in
Admins sign in with the identity they already have — no separate eCardWidget password to manage or reset.
Self-maintaining directory
Joiners, movers, and leavers flow from your IdP into the recognition directory automatically.
Automations always aimed right
Synced birthdays and hire dates feed birthday and anniversary automations — no stale spreadsheet dates.
Pair Microsoft Entra ID with eCardWidget
If your organization runs on Microsoft 365, Entra ID already knows every joiner, mover, and leaver. Connecting it to eCardWidget means recognition follows your org chart automatically — and if on-prem Active Directory is your root source, the AD-to-Entra sync you already run carries straight through.
Protocol: OpenID Connect (authorization-code + PKCE) · Provisioning: SCIM 2.0 · How eCardWidget SSO & directory sync works
HR deactivates a departing employee in Entra ID at 5pm → the SCIM push disables them in eCardWidget within about a minute → next morning's birthday automation run skips them — no awkward card to an ex-employee.
How to connect Microsoft Entra ID and eCardWidget
- 1In the Entra admin center, register an application with OpenID Connect (authorization-code flow) and collect the Client ID, Client Secret, and OIDC discovery URL.
- 2In eCardWidget, open Settings → SSO & Directory Sync, add the three values, and verify your email domain via DNS TXT.
- 3Test the connection and confirm sign-in from an incognito window.
- 4Add a provisioning configuration in Entra ID using eCardWidget's SCIM endpoint URL and bearer token.
- 5Map attributes and assign the users/groups to provision — updates, deactivations, and reactivations then flow automatically.

Microsoft Entra ID + eCardWidget questions
Is this the same as Azure AD?
Yes — Microsoft renamed Azure Active Directory to Microsoft Entra ID. If your documentation or team still says Azure AD, it's the same directory and the same setup.
We run on-prem Active Directory. Does this work?
Indirectly, and it's the standard pattern: eCardWidget doesn't federate LDAP/on-prem AD directly, but if you sync AD to Entra ID (as most Microsoft shops already do), Entra connects natively and your on-prem directory flows through.
SAML or OIDC?
OpenID Connect only — register the app as an OIDC web application, not a SAML enterprise app.
Which plan do I need?
SSO and SCIM are available on the Enterprise plan.
